  6. Answer link Secx=5 Given that sec = 1/cos, we can realize that secx=5 is the same as 1/cosx=5. From there we multiply both sides with cosx and we get 1=5cosx and now we simply divide both sides by 5 and we get 1/5=cosx, now just get the cos^ {-1} of 1/5 which is 78.46 in degrees or 1.3 in radians.

In calculus, the derivative of sec (x) is sec (x)tan (x). This means that at any value of x, the rate of change or slope of sec (x) is sec (x)tan (x) . For more on this see Derivatives of trigonometric functions together with the derivatives of other trig functions. See also the Calculus Table of Contents .
Note, sec x is not the same as cos -1 x (sometimes written as arccos x). Remember, you cannot divide by zero and so these definitions are only valid when the denominators are not zero. Example If sec x = 2, cos x = ½, x = 60º Graphs of sec x and cosec x Click here to find more information on solving trigonometric equations
They can be easily replaced with derivations of the more common three: sin, cos and tan. For every trigonometry function such as sec, there is an inverse function that works in reverse. These inverse functions have the same name but with 'arc' in front. So the inverse of sec is arcsec etc.
\sec (x) = \sec (x + 360\degree) sec(x)=sec(x+360°). Similarly to the tangent, the sec trig function doesn't always exist: try our tangent calculator to see how. For the angle equal to k k an integer, the secant is not defined.
